PCOS: THE SIMPLE GUIDE

Wait,What Exactly is PCOS?

Polyeystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) sounds like a scary medical term, but lets bring it down to the bared minimum. It isn't a disease you catch from someone-its simply a hormone mix-up inside your body.

Every woman has a balance of hormones, but with PCOS, your body produces a bit too much "male" hormone (called androgens). Think of it as a gitch in your body's operating system. This glitch tells your ovaries to stop releasing eggs normally, which is why periods go missing and you might see those tiny "follicles" (often mistaken for cysts) siting in your ovaries.

MYTH BUSTERYou don't actually need to have "cysts" to have PCOS. Many women have clear ovaries but still have the hormone glitch. It's a metabolism and hormone issue, not just an "ovary" problem!

How to Spot the Signs

PCOS doesnt look the same on everyone. It's like a puzzle where no two women have the exact

same pieces. Watch out for these common clues:

▪ Period Drama: Missing your period for months or having a cycle that is totally unpredictable.
▪ Skin &Hair: Stubbom acne on your jawline, oily skin, or dark hair growing on your face, chest, or stomach.
▪ The "PCOS Belly": Weight gain that settles mostly around your tummy and feels very hard to lose.
▪ The Sugar Crash: Feeling exhausted all the time and having intense cravings for sweets or bread.
▪ Thinning Hair: Noticing more hair than usual in the shower drain or thinning near your scalp.

Why Is This Happening to Me?

It usually comes down to two main things: Your Genes and Insulin Resistance.

Think of insulin as the "key" that lets energy into your cells. With PCOS, the lock is rusty. Your body produces extra insulin to force the lock open, but that extra insulin tells your ovaries to make more "male" hormones. It's a cycle that keeps itself going until you step in to break it.

3 Simple Steps to Take Control

You don't need to be a doctor to manage this.Start with the basics:

1. Eat to Balance Your Sugar

You don't need a "perfect" diet. Just focus on Protein + Fiber + Healthy Fats. This combo keeps

your blood sugar steady so your insulin doesn't spike and trigger those hormones.

      2.   Move Your Body(Gently!)

You don't need to spend 2 hours in the gym. Walking, light weights, or yoga are great. Extreme

exercise can actually stress your body more-balance is key!

     3.   Prioritize Your Rest

Stress is the secret fuel for PCOS. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. When you are rested, your body

manages sugar and hormones much better.

DONT STRUGGLE ALONE!
